Forbes included Uzbekistan in the list of the 50 best tourist destinations in 2022
The American financial and economic magazine "Forbes" included Uzbekistan in the 50 best travel destinations in 2022.
According to the edition, the current year 2022 inspires some hopes for the possibility of traveling around the world, compared with last year, despite the fact that many areas remain closed due to restrictions.
“Uzbekistan’s impressive infrastructure will have you travel from Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, to Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva—stops on the Great Silk Road—with ease. Three of the cities are well-connected by high-speed trains, and Khiva is connected to Bukhara by a Soviet-era train, which is fun to ride if you find Soviet stuff fascinating.
Each city on the itinerary (except Tashkent) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has a lot to offer in terms of sights. Khiva’s old town, Itchan Kala, was the first Uzbek city to be included on the list of cultural sites. In Bukhara, don’t miss its many ornate ancient madrasas (schools), visit the Ark of Bukhara and don’t forget to shop for souvenirs at the trading domes. Samarkand, of course, stuns with its exquisite Registan Square. In Tashkent, eat as much plov, a traditional rice dish typically made with lamb and grated carrots, until your pants burst at the seams”. - notes the magazine.
This rating was compiled on the basis of the most famous destinations that the authors were able to visit until 2020. Preference was given to places currently open to American tourists.
