The Ancient Khiva on Euronews TV Channel
The Euronews TV channel has been airing a series of broadcasts entitled “Uzbekistan Life” narrating the rich history, cultural heritage and tourist infrastructure of our country. The latest series dedicated to the ancient city of Khiva started December 25.
Wide-scale efforts have been in progress across Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Islam Karimov designed to bolster the travel industry infrastructure, to popularize abroad the tourism potential of the country and promote contemporary types of tourism. The tourists visiting our nation have been growing in number from one year to another. In excess of five hundred hotels, tour camping sites, and more than three hundred travel companies operate currently in Uzbekistan. the volume of tour services has grown by 16 percent in comparison to that in 2012, while the exports of services increased by 20 percent.
According to the Uzbektourism National Company, the TV broadcast produced by special reporters of the Euronews channel, demonstrates the best sightseeing of the “Open-Air Museum” (as Khiva is popularly dubbed), its historic monuments in the fortresses Ichan Kala and Dishan Kala, museums, as well as plots on the historical legacy and tourist capacities of the town, its hospitable people, customs and traditions. It underscores in particular that the Ichan Kala complex in the city of Khiva is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
In accordance with the resolution of the head of our state “On the Development of Program of Tourism Industry in the Khorezm Region in 2013-2015” signed 20 March 2013, nearly two hundred projects are due to be implemented in the province to boost tourism and some thirty hotels are to be erected. Wide-ranging works are underway in the premises dedicated to prop up the tour infrastructure, particularly to promote a network of compact hotels in the cities of Urgench and Khiva, boost the economic and technical capacities of facilities designed to provide modern services to travelers. Within the last ten years, the number of hotels has multiplied almost fourfold.
It is noteworthy that the Euronews channel programs are broadcast in twelve languages to 155 countries of the world. The report devoted to Uzbekistan, to Khiva in particular, is to facilitate the popularization of its tour potential in the international scale and the increase in the tourist inflow into our nation.
