Tourism Development in Khorezm

Regional Tourism Forum "Uzbekistan Travel Workshop-2013" was held in the city of Khiva on 7 June.

The event, held in the framework of execution of the resolution of President Islam Karimov "On the program of tourism development in Khorezm region for 2013-2015", was organized by Uzbektourism National Company, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Khorezm regional hokimiyat [administration].

The document stipulates a significant increase in the volume and export of tourism services, increasing the number of tourists and hotel beds. The programme provides for implementation almost two hundred projects in the region.

At the opening, the chairman of Uzbektourism National Company F.Rizaev and others spoke about the notable results of reforms conducted in the tourism infrastructure of the country and domestic tourism.

In the process of large-scale work on development of tourism, special attention is being paid to the wider use of the region's capabilities in this direction.

First organized Regional Tourism Forum "Workshop-2013" – one of the most important events of the current tourist season – was devoted to the development of domestic tourism. It was attended by the representatives of leading companies, hotels, recreation areas operating in the tourism sector as well as specialists and experts.

The Tourism Forum "Workshop-2013" has created an opportunity for leading specialists of tourism industry of the country for mutual exchange of experiences on the prospects for the development of regional tourism and the actual tasks of the sphere.

They have discussed regional branding, mechanisms to attract foreign tourists, traditional and alternative types of tourism, safety and quality of tourism services, as well as other topical issues in the tourism industry.

At the forum, participants and tour operators have the opportunity to learn about new projects and programs for the development of domestic tourism, new tourist routes in Khorezm region and in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, hotels and other tourist facilities.
